Rice Pilaf Dish for You

This Rice Pilaf Dish for you could be made tonight

I don’t know about you but I  have never been one to eat too many prepackaged boxed dishes.  I do like a good rice pilaf and it’s really not that difficult to make.  Generally the pre-packaged items have gluten in them so I definitely avoid them.  But I have a rice pilaf dish for you.

I happen to love rice.  I enjoy a wide variety or rice including Basmati, Jasmine, Brown, Wild, White, Arborio, Black, you get the idea.  It’s easy to make and just so versatile as a result you can really pair it with any type of meal you are eating.

This is a great side dish to go with whatever you like to pair rice with.  Just gives it some added flavor.

Recipe

Now let’s get to that recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Brown Rice (or rice of choice)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 2 large carrots
  • Mixed vegetables (optional) or vegetables of choice. Good ones are peas and carrots
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 2 Tbsp EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)

Directions:

First cook rice according to directions.

Next, in a medium size sauce pan heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook for two minutes, add celery, carrots and garlic.  Saute’ 10-15 minutes or until veggies are tender crisp. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Finally, add cooked rice into skillet and mix together.  Keep stirring frequently for about 5 minutes. Serve immediately and revel in the creamy taste.

Enjoy!
