Aging Gracefully with Thoughts on Aging

How do you think of yourself in terms of aging?  Here are some thoughts on aging gracefully. Do you feel aging creates a strong, positive image or one of a frail negative image.  Aging gracefully is for anyone. As a matter of face, in eastern medicine yoga has a basic principle of mind over matter. The body is primarily a product of consciousness and secondly a physical object.

Alternatively and quite interestingly enough western medicine sees the body completely differently.  In other words, in western medicine they believe the body is an organism which the mind stems from.   When you look at different cultures see how they live, what they eat, how they work, and how healthy are they.  However, it makes you wonder, where do they find happiness.  What is happening in their surroundings.

The body is constantly changing our mental state with mental images, which can be positive or negative. It sends a very powerful message through ones nervous system.

The nervous system is very complex made of the central nervous system, brain, and spinal cord.  You have your somatic nervous system in contrast with the external environment and autonomic nervous system that controls inside of the body like the heart, lungs blood pressure, and such.  I won’t go too deeply into these systems however, you may find it fascinating when your read up on it.

Scientific studies show a link between mind and body.  Studies show that someone suffering from depression is 4 times more likely to develop a disease. Shocking results if I do say so myself.  Depression and stress create absolute havoc on the immune system.  It’s no wonder so many people have health issues. Who doesn’t know someone stressed out or depressed.

Aging Gracefully with The Flow of Energy

Makes sense that as a result, a negative thought produces a negative result.  Think of it as the positive thoughts slow down the flow of energy and these redirect mental energy and provide a positive chemical response. Whereas a negative thought will speed up the energy flow and produce a negative chemical response.

Everyone experiences aging differently.  Really depends on what they’ve experienced in life and how the process it.  In cultures with a positive image of aging a person is thought to become wiser and able to lead a community. I find it quite fascinating. Chronic illness like heart attack, cancer and arthritis rarely exist in many cultures.

Aging Gracefully with The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga helps to relax the entire nervous system and helps the brain calm down as a result of your practice.  Having time to reboot your system is very important.  For instance, more studies are coming out to show that Yoga can help decrease your stress level, high blood pressure, build up flexibility, strength and confidence.  These are all great benefits from your practice.  As a result of your yoga practice, this in turn helps slow down the aging process, improve your mental state and immune system just to name a few.  Now that you know a few more benefits of yoga you may be inclined to try out some classes and see what benefits you feel.
